Recent Projects

Our focus in the last few years has been on health - NSW Health in particular. Working under contract to Modis consulting E Street established a program architecture practice and built up an architecture repository within the Population Health branch of the NSW Ministry of Health. We put principles, governance practices, modelling and documentation standards in place and demonstrated how they can be effective when developing the four business solutions described below.

Medicare Interface

The Australian Immunisation Repository (AIR) is managed by Medicare. NSW Health has a School Vaccination Program that needs to load the details of over a quarter of a million vaccinations into the AIR each year. We designed and implemented the interface to Medicare to allow this to happen. A large part of this project was to ensure the stringent Medicare quality requirements were met but our standard processes were more than sufficient for the purpose

School Dental Clinic Scheduler

During the March 2019 NSW election program the leader of the NSW Liberals promised a Primary School Mobile Dental Program would begin operation three months after the election. When her party went on to win the election there was a scramble to get the program in-place. Our team was asked to provide software for maintaining relationships with the schools, scheduling the clinics at those schools and scheduling the resources required for those clinics. We had a system up and running within two months and have since gone on to add rich functionality to enable Local Health Districts to deliver this important service.

Vaccine Management

The NSW and National Immunisation programs distribute over two and a half million influenza vaccines to NSW residents each year. It is important that we don't run out of these vaccines (lives may depend on it) but demand varies widely from year to year and there is a six month lag between lodging an order with the manufacturer and delivery to the State Vaccine Warehouse. We wrote this predictive analytics system for NSW Health to constantly update predictions of future demand so at to prevent shortfalls and gluts.

HealthStats NSW

We provided a design for the replacement of HealthStats NSW – a public facing site providing reports on NSW health statistics. The design we specified replaced not only the front-end platform but also provided large-scale automation of the back-end processes currently used to develop a statistics warehouse (DWH) that will sit behind the site. The design is currently being built and when deployed should provide a dramatic improvement in the capability for the bio-statisticians to publish timely statistics. The specification uses dev-ops techniques and the R capabilities provided by SQL Server as well as work-flow components and bespoke screens.
